The Jeppe High School for Girls class of 2014 came together with their parents, teachers and invited guests to celebrate their successes on October 2.
An address was delivered by the Head Girl, Nadine Shaikjee, which was followed by an address by the headmistress, Ms Goncalves, who outlined the highlights of the five years the matric pupils had been at Jeppe.
Dr Gillian Godsell was the guest speaker.
Dr Godsell holds a PhD from Boston University and currently teaches at the Wits School of Governance. She previously chaired the governing bodies of Auckland Park Preparatory School and Parktown High School for Girls, and is the current chair of the Wits Council for Education. She has published a number of journal articles and book chapters, as well as a short biography of Helen Suzman in the schools’ series ‘They Fought for Freedom’. She spoke about what she wished for the girls and then presented the awards and charters.
