This morning at about 9am a fire broke out in Mangolongolo Informal Settlement.

Three people were treated on scene for smoke inhalation before they were transported to hospital.

Another man sustained minor injuries when he was attacked by community members after he allegedly left a candle unattended in his shack.

It is believed the unattended candle resulted in the blaze.

The man refused medical assistance.

Approximately 50 shacks were destroyed in the fire.

Shortly after midday, a fire broke out at a mattress factory in Benrose Extension 3.

One person sustained slight injuries after a wall collapsed.

He was treated on scene before being taken to hospital.

Firefighters are still battling to extinguish the blaze.
