Elderly enjoy Christmas party

Special treats for seniors.

Elderly residents from Edenvale and Tembisa were treated to a Christmas lunch and party on Wednesday, sponsored by Fahrenheit in Edenvale.

The event was organised by the executive members of the Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF) and SAPS in conjunction with Fahrenheit.

During his speech, ECPF executive member Mr Ian McKenzie thanked those community members who give tirelessly of their time to ensuring the safety of their neighbours.

He also thanked the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), the SAPS, Emer-G-Med and the NEWS for the dedication shown in assisting the community.

The chairperson for the ECPF, Mrs Linda McKenzie, told those attending that she wished more such events could take place throughout the year.

She also thanked those who attended and urged everyone to join hands in fighting crime.

The Edenvale SAPS Station Commander, Colonel Eddie Trollip, thanked Mrs McKenzie and her committee for being examples in the community that other should follow.

After the speeches, residents were treated to a meal and gifts.

The ECPF aims to make the event an annual one.
