A 19-year-old woman was almost raped after returning from a Tavern.
The victim claimed she was at a Tavern in Noord Street, Johannesburg, with her two friends. A men allegedly joined them, and bought drinks.
The victim claims the man asked her to return to his house. When she refused, the man allegedly began assaulting her.
He took her outside and walked with her towards Siveright and Error streets in Doorfontein.
When they reached a bridge, he allegedly began stripping her. The victim screamed and people who were at a nearby Shell garage heard her.
They, together with a petrol attendant, rushed to help the victim.
They chased the suspect and arrested him.
Warrant Officer Munyayi said the SAPS was called and the suspect was arrested and detained. He was charged with attempted rape.
The 41-year-old man will appear in court soon and police investigations are continuing.
