Jayde takes British title
After the appeal was heard, MSA (Britain’s motorsport governing body) rejected the appeal and confirmed Jayde and the JTR team as this year’s champions.
Former Edenvale resident, Jayde Kruger, was announced as this year’s British Formula Ford Champion.
The 26-year-old clinched the title in mid-October at the final round of the championship which was held at Brands Hatch. Following an appeal by fellow championship contender Harrison Scott after the event, the title was declared provisional, pending a hearing which took place in mid-November.
After the appeal was heard, MSA (Britain’s motorsport governing body) rejected the appeal and confirmed Jayde and the JTR team as this year’s champions.
Jayde, who now lives in Manchester in the UK and works as an advanced driving instructor, is the first South African to win the British Formula Ford title since Trevor van Rooyen in 1977.
Mark Webber and Jenson Button are some of the names who cut their teeth in Formula Ford in Britain in recent years.
Since his win at Brands Hatch, Jayde has successfully tested a Ford Focus Touring Car as part of his prize and he now hopes to carve a career in sports car racing in the United Kingdom and Europe.
