A 22-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder at the Mangolongolo Informal Settlement after he shot a recycler on Saturday, November 29, shortly after 8am.
The Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, said the recycler and his friend were collecting bottles for recycling when they were approached by two men.
“The men demanded money and cellular phones from the recyclers. One of the men took out the firearm and shot one of the victims in the leg,” said Const Mashakane.
She said the man was later arrested and charged with attempted murder and attempted robbery.
