A man was tracked via the cellular phone he stole and arrested on Thursday, November 2, shortly after 8pm.
The Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashikane, said a woman and her two friends were walking next to the intersection of Cumberland and Naiad streets in Kensington when they were approached by three men.
“One of the men was armed with a firearm. Two of her friends managed to escape while she remained behind and was robbed. The men took her tablet device, cellular phone and passport before fleeing,” she said.
Const Mashikane said the police technical team traced the suspects through the cellular phone and one man was arrested in Yeoville after he was found in possession of the stolen cellular phone.
