Council still has not finalised road repairs
The answers were in response to questions asked by Edenvale’s ward 19 councillor, Clr Bill Rundle, in council.

A week of rain has caused havoc with Edenvale’s roads.
Poor repairs, or patched potholes, have re-appeared and new ones have surfaced.
To worsen the situation, there are still no contractors in Ekurhuleni to deal with road repairs and maintenance.
According to answers provided by the member of the mayoral committee (MMC) for roads and transport in Ekurhuleni, Clr Thunbu Mahlangu, there are no contractors to maintain roads in the metropolitan area.
The answers were in response to questions asked by Edenvale’s ward 19 councillor, Clr Bill Rundle, in council.
When asked what the current status was regarding suspended officials, Clr Rundle was told that the matter could not be commented on as it was under judicial processes.
In the June 11 edition of the NEWS, it was reported that a court interdict against the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) prevents it from awarding road repair contracts.
This inability has resulted in large-scale deterioration of roads across Ekurhuleni.
In Edenvale, motorists are face with numerous potholes as well as continuously crumbling road surfaces.
It was also reported that in addition to being unable to award contracts to repair road surfaces, council also ordered all current contractors to halt the purchase of materials used to fill potholes.
