Six patients transported to various hospitals following collision in which teenager was killed

Six patients were transported by ambulances to various hospitals in Ekurhuleni following Saturday's Bedfordview collision which also claimed the live of a teenager.

The youngster was killed and various others hospitalised following the collision involving multiple vehicles on the N3 North/N12 split at Gillooly’s Interchange in Bedfordview.

Six vehicles and two super link trucks, fully loaded with fertilizers and diesel respectively, were all involved in the collision.

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services` rescue team responded to the scene and found two patients still trapped inside one of the vehicles crashed by one of the involved trucks.

Specialised rescue tools (Jaws of Life) were used to free the patients from the wreckage and unfortunately the teenager was declared dead on scene.

Of those transported to hospital, two were in critical conditions, two were in serious but stable conditions and the other two suffered minor injuries.

Both two lanes of the N12 split from the N3 were closed for traffic till the wreckages and oil spillages were cleared from the road.
