Ekurhuleni clinics go paperless

He told council that the metro will increase mobile clinics from five to ten.

Ekurhuleni clinics are going digital to eliminate paper work and to safeguard patient information.

The executive mayor of Ekurhuleni, Clr Mondli Gungubele, announced this during the State of the City Address on Wednesday.

The initiative is already being piloted at various clinics across the metro including Bedfordview, Joy( Etwatwa), Katlehong, Kempton Park, Nigel, Rondebult, Tembisa ,White City (KwaThema) and Wannenberg in Germiston.

“This innovation has already resulted in the introduction of SMS services to remind chronic patients of their next consultation dates. These clinics now employ the electronic registration of patients which significantly reduced queuing time,” said Clr Gungubele.

He told council that the metro will increase mobile clinics from five to ten.

The mobile clinics will be used to service areas that are far from clinics including informal settlements.
