Bedfordview police arrest second suspect following fatal N3 shooting

Detectives have taken another man into custody as the investigation into a July murder and kidnapping near the Van Buuren Road on-ramp continues.

Bedfordview SAPS detectives have arrested a second man in connection with a murder that occurred on July 9, 2026.They arrested him on September 10.

Bedfordview SAPS communication liaison officer Sergeant Lillian Modiga reported that on July 9, 2026, a man was fatally shot at the N3 Van Buuren Road on-ramp.

The Bedfordview Edenvale News reported on July 9, 2026, that the local SAPS were investigating a murder and kidnapping after one man was shot dead and another was abducted on the N3 on-ramp from Van Buuren Road.

On September 3, 2026, the publication reported that police had arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting after tracing a vehicle using tracking technology.

“The investigation is continuing, and further developments will be communicated as and when necessary,” said Modiga.
