Passengers trapped in Denver train crash

One person is still trapped inside one of the trains

Various emergency services are treating patients at the scene after two Metrorail trains collided this morning.

The spokesperson for the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA), Ms Nana Zenani, said the cause of the accident has not yet been established but investigations are underway.

“We are waiting for rail safety regulators to confirm the number of injured and dead passengers. One person is still trapped inside one of the trains,” said Ms Zenani.IMG-20150428-WA001

The EMS spokesperson, Mr Robert Mulaudzi, has confirmed that the passenger trapped inside one of the trains is a woman.

“We are working with emergency personnel from private companies to rescue those trapped,” said Mr Mulaudzi.

Roads surrounding the Denver train station are closed and residents are advised to use alternative roads.
