Corrie back in ICU

Mr Corrie Le Grange was intubated to save his life once again.

Mr Corrie Le Grange’s family rushed to hospital last week Thursday when his condition took a turn for the worst.

The family waited for an ICU bed to be available.

“At around 9pm Mr Le Grange was moved to the ICU and intubated once again to save his life,” said Mr Mark Porter, the spokesperson for the family.

After the amount of community support Mr Le Grange received to get him hospitalised, it would appear Mr Le Grange is still fighting a battle with his health.

Mr Porter informed the NEWS that he is not doing well.

The NEWS previously published that he was out of ICU and responding to his treatment.

“Mr Le Grange was discharged from ICU on July 7. He was out of ICU for 36 hours and then taken back, ” said Mr Porter.

According to Mr Porter, last Thursday morning Mr Le Grange was prepared to go home.

“The hospital bed was repaired so that the position could be manipulated. He was breathing well and Dr Ruder advised the family that preparations needed to be made to care for him at home when he was discharged,” said Mr Porter.

“Several machines, like a CPAP, oxygen concentrator and an articulating bed, would be needed. In addition, around-the-clock nursing and frequent physio and dietitian treatments would have been necessary,” he said

Mr Porter told the NEWS that another doctor told Mr Le Grange’s fiancé, Ms Shammy Rademeyer, that his status had dipped but he was fine after being monitored.

Last Thursday evening the family was informed that Mr Le Grange was not improving and that his status had changed.

“He was struggling to breath and his condition was again critical,” said Mr Porter.

The cause for the sudden change in Mr Le Grange’s condition was not yet known.

The family is hopeful for a recovery and hopes that further relapses will be avoided.
