A man was arrested last Monday for a residential burglary in Bedfordview.
While responding to an alarm, security officers spotted the suspect trying to run from the yard with some goods.
The spokesperson for the Bedfordview SAPS, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, said the officers fired a warning shot as the man tried to run off.
“He was arrested at the scene by the officers,” he said.
The incident took place on Protea Road in Bedfordview.
Sgt Nhlabathi said the man was found with property belonging to the home owners.
“He told the security officers he was from Tembisa and later told the police officers at the scene that he was from Vosloorus. According to him, he is 26-years-old, but he was taken to the station for profiling in order to check if he was linked to other crimes,” he said.
Sgt Nhlabathi commended the security officers for their work in catching the suspect.
“We would also like to send a strong message to the criminals that we are onto them and they will not get away for too long as we are closing the net,” he said.
