AACL offers free rabies vaccinations
It is a legal requirement in terms of the Animal Diseases Act, 1984, to vaccinate all dogs and cats between the age of three and seven months, then twelve months later, then every three years against rabies in South Africa.
Rabies is a disease that affects the brain and leads to the death of the person or animal affected.
Symptoms include changes in the pet’s behaviour, aggression, salivation and paralysis.
It is spread through the saliva of a rabid animal by licking sores or by biting.

Celebrate World Rabies Day with AACL-Johannesburg on Monday, September 28.
Bring your healthy pet, over three months of age, for a free rabies vaccination between 10am and 3pm to 59 Alice Street in Regents Park.
This is open to all hospital clients and the general public.
Please note that no consulting will take place and only the rabies vaccination will be administered if the pet is healthy.
Booster vaccinations will be required 12 months later, which will be at your cost at your own veterinarian, unless you are an existing hospital client.
