Firefighters are struggling to contain a building fire in Jeppestown.

According to information from the scene, emergency services personnel fear the building could collapse.

John Street, Jeppestown has been closed to traffic.

Joburg East Express, journalist Ms Busi Vilakazi, this morning 3 000 people staying in the building were evicted by members of the Red Ants.

“The fire started shortly after the evictions took place,” Ms Vilakazi said.
