Security guard robbed at crime scene

The security guard was responding to an alarm when he was robbed off his official firearm.

A bogus security guard robbed a legitimate security guard along Ernest and Nile streets in Cleveland last night, shortly after 9pm.

The Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable  Mpho Mashakane, said the security guard was responding to an alarm when he was robbed off his official firearm. His company vehicle was also hijacked.

“When he arrived at the address, there was already a guard who wearing a uniform standing at the gate. The bogus security guard pointed a firearm at the victim. He took his firearm and forced him back to his marked vehicle. They stopped at the corner and picked up another suspect who was not wearing a uniform,” said Const Mashakane.

The security guard was later dropped off in Yeoville.

“The vehicle was later recovered in Hillbrow,” she said.
