Cable theft causes power outages

City Power has cited cable theft as the reason for power outages in the Modderfontein and Greenstone Hill areas.
On September 30 and October 1, the Greenstone area was without power for a number of hours.

The NEWS tried to get information from City Power at the time but without success.
The City Power spokesperson, Ms Yumna Sheik, finally issued a statement and said Modderfontein and Greenstone Hill experienced power outages due to a cable fault.
“City Power technicians attended to both outages and fully restored electricity supply to customers,” said Ms Sheik.
