#WaterCrisis – Reservoir levels critically low, more areas to be affected

If the situation in all of the areas above deteriorates further, the City will implement water shedding measures and shut off supply from 10pm to 3am.

The City of Ekurhuleni continues to appeal to residents and businesses to use water sparingly.

This as temperatures continue to soar, putting a strain on water supply.

There is currently no water in the following areas of Germiston:

  •  Dawnview
  •  Gerdview
  •  Marlands
  •  Germiston CBD
  •  Elsburg
  •  Lambton
  •  Fishers Hill
  •  Wadeville
  •  Bedfordview
  •  Primrose Hill
  •  Sunny Rock

Water tankers are available at the following locations:

  •  Opposite Old Marlands Swimming Pool near Solly’s Supermarket
  •  Corner Elbertfield Avenue and Windsor Street
  •  Howe Circle
  •  Corner Jubilee and Ralston Avenues
  •  Corner Fourth Avenue and Pipe Street
  •  Corner Riley Road and Van Buuren Road, Bedfordview
  •  Van Buuren Road (east of Harper Road) in front of Virgin Active
  •  Parking area at KFC, Kirkby Road, Bedford Gardens
  •  Corner Lucas Lane and Norman Road, Bedfordview (in front of Hyundai)
  •  Corner Fairway Avenue and Penthurst Avenue, Essexwold.

The levels in the reservoirs supplying the following areas are at a critical level and there may be low water pressure:

Southern parts of Ekurhuleni 

  •  Bedford Gardens
  •  Malvern East
  •  Parts of Katlehong
  •  Zonkizizwe
  •  Magagula Heights
  •  Moleleki one, two and three

Northern parts of Ekurhuleni 

  •  Bonaero Park
  •  Isando
  •  Croydon
  •  Spartan
  •  Esther Park
  •  Edleen
  •  Terenure
  •  Kempton Park West
  •  Chlorkoop
  •  Pomona
  •  Bredel
  •  Glen Marais
  •  Glen Erasmia
  •  Allen Groove
  •  Aston Manor
  •  Rhodesfield
  •  Spartan
  •  Kempton Park CBD
  •  Kempton Park extension four

Eastern parts of Ekurhuleni 

  • Daveyton
  • Etwatwa
  • Crystal Park
  • Morehill
  • Ebotse
  • Rynfield

Consumers in all areas are urged to adhere to the following measures:

  •  No filling of swimming pools;
  •  No gardening and irrigation at all unless you make use of grey water
  •  No water washing of pavements and cars
  •  Reduce showering time and capture in buckets the cold water that initially comes from the shower
  •  Repair all leaks.

If the situation in all of the areas above deteriorates further, the City will implement water shedding measures and shut off supply from 10pm to 3am.

Water levels at reservoirs will be continuously monitored by the City and water shedding measured will be implemented as required.
