No comment from CCPF chairperson
"There are procedures and processes that all CPF members are obliged to follow. Failure to do so is in breach of the Constitution. Allegations made in the media cannot be entertained."
The Cleveland Community Police Forum’s (CCPF) chairperson will not respond to concerns about her being a chairperson and an active politician.
The EXPRESS received inquiries from concerned readers questioning Ms Allison Roberts, who is an active ANC Cyrildene branch member as well as the chairperson of the CCPF.
According to the Constitution of the Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board, which governs CPFs, rule 22.2.7 states that persons who are holding political positions and responsibilities in public office are not eligible for positions in the CPF.
The EXPRESS sent an inquiry to Ms Roberts, asking her to confirm whether she is an active member, holding a political position of a political party and if so, what her comment is to concerns about her political activities versus her involvement with the CCPF.
She said to her knowledge, no complaint had been submitted to the CCPF or Cluster.
“There are procedures and processes that all CPF members are obliged to follow. Failure to do so is in breach of the Constitution. Allegations made in the media cannot be entertained,” said Ms Allison Roberts in an email.
Inquiries were sent to the ANC Johannesburg Region chairperson, Mr Dada Morero and the Gauteng Department of Community Safety’s spokesperson, Mr Thapelo Moiloa, on November 2.
The EXPRESS requested comment by Wednesday, November 4. At the time of going to print, no comment had been received.
