Alert officers nab thieves

“A load of groceries was concealed in the two bins."

A Yeoville business owner was woken up by police officers after a burglary at his shop on Thursday, January 14.

The Yeoville SAPS spokesperson, Constable Thabo Malatji, said police officers were patrolling along Isipingo Street when they saw two men pushing waste bins.

“A load of groceries was concealed in the two bins. Following questioning, the men took the police officers to a tuck shop they had just broken into along Pope Street in the area. The shop owner was found still asleep in the nearby room and was unaware of what had happened,” said Const Malatji.

The men were charged with possession of stolen goods and business burglary.
