UPDATE: Eastgate demolition on hold following scaffolding collapse

Three construction workers were injured when a section of scaffolding they were working on collapsed.

Management of Eastgate Shopping Centre confirmed there was a construction accident at the centre yesterday.

Three construction workers were injured when a section of scaffolding they were working on collapsed.

The workers are employed by a subcontractor and were demolishing part of the office towers.

An investigation is pending to determine the cause of the incident.

“Eastgate takes health and safety of all workers very seriously and the safety and security of shoppers and tenants is of the utmost importance to Eastgate” said Nomzamo Radebe Chief executive officer of JHI.
