Fantastic four to raise money for animals
Pupils are hoping to bring a community together to raise funds for Paws R Us.
Four children from Edenvale have set their hearts on helping animals.
They have decided to have a community project in which they can raise funds for a charity.
They have selected the Paws R Us organisation – a charity for dogs and cats. Jamie Burger (12) said their school was involved in an initiative for the organisation last year. “We had to collect canned foods and other goodies for the animals,” she said.
Jessica Humphries (9) said their initiative started when they adopted from Paws R Us. “My brother and I have recently adopted a dog from the organisation and have decided to do something for them,” she said.
Daniel Humphries (11) wanted to do more and suggested doing a bake sale in the park to raise money but they later decided to have a bigger fund raising event at Horwoods Farm. The children have set their hearts on having a successful event and have turned to the community for support. “We are moving towards having different stalls with lots of different things for everyone to buy.
“By involving the community we could raise so much more money for the animals,” said Daniel. Little Danni Burger (9) said they haven’t told their friends yet. “Our parents told us not to tell our friends yet until everything is organised, but we know they are going to be excited and will definitely help us,” she said. These four pupils are hoping to bring a community together to raise funds for Paws R Us.
“We really want the community to support us at the market. It will be a great opportunity for family and friends to shop around and enjoy the entertainment,” said Jamie. Daniel said the most important thing was helping the animals as much as they can. Jessica said everyone is welcome to shop or book a stall at their Anything and Everything Easter market. “People should also bring a dog toy or a can of food to the market,” she said.
Their market will be held on March 13 and 14, from 10am until 4pm. Anyone is welcome to book a stall and sell at the market. The day will be filled with goods to buy and entertainment for the family. For further information, send an email to aeemstalls@gmail.com.
