Bloom comments on Jeppe CPF chair’s allegations
"This police station (Jeppe) needs a full-time commander to take the measures to bring down high crime in the area."
Mr Bloom said the Jeppe SAPS needs a permanent station commander.
The EXPRESS reported earlier that the threat to remove the Jeppe SAPS commander from his position due to absenteeism has been called politicking.
This was said by the Jeppe Community Police Forum chairperson, Mr Zola Dambula.
Mr Dambula was reacting to a statement issued by Mr Jack Bloom, the DA’s Johannesburg East constituency head.
Mr Bloom said he and the ward 66 councillor, Clr Carlos da Rocha and Clr Victor Penning, will campaign to have the Jeppe SAPS commander, Brigadier Govindsamy Mariemuthoo, removed.
“This police station needs a full-time commander to take the measures to bring down high crime in the area. This cannot be done with someone who is absent nearly a third of the time – other station commanders able to be more present than Brigadier Mariemuthoo,” said Mr Bloom in response to Mr Dambula’s comment.
