At the age of 67, he said he will continue to donate blood.

Mr Dawid Janse van Vuuren donated his 350th pint of blood at the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) in Bruma on Thursday last week.

Mr Janse van Vuuren said he started donating blood at the age of 19, after being inspired by a nose bleed.

At the age of 67, he said he will continue to donate blood.

“When I started donating blood, we used to donate every five weeks and things were still done manually. Now things have become more advanced.

“I’m still happy to donate. I always think of how many people could be saved,” said Mr Janse van Vuuren.

He said it is important to look after your health and keep fit.

“I take a walk every day because it’s important to be healthy and if you are healthy, you live a better life,” said Mr Janse van Vuuren.

“I feel 350 pints of blood lighter,” joked Mr Janse van Vuuren.
