Criminals have no chance – MAD Penny

The session will include talks on the different modus operandi criminals use to rob their victims.

This month’s instalment of the MAD Domestic Watch meeting will be held on May 4.

Domestic workers and gardeners can look forward to a session jam-packed with tips and case studies.

The lesson, scheduled for every last Wednesday of the month, was postponed due to April 27 being a public holiday.

Affectionately called MAD Penny by many around her, Ms Setyn said she loves empowering and educating domestic workers.

At the next session, Ms Steyn said she will speak about the topic, ‘Who is attacking you and what to do about it’.

She said Major Robert Makopo, from the Bedfordview Police Station, asked her to speak about the subject.

“It would seem to some that criminals appear to be winning the war. The reason for that? Because they keep coming up with more innovative ways to attack their victims. Our country’s crime stats are shouting ‘Know better, know what to do to prevent crime, help the police with the crime challenge'”, said Ms Steyn.

She said it is important to keep abreast of the modus operandi used by criminals.

“I have collected some very interesting new approaches that must be shared. Educated, empowered and motivated, our domestic workers and gardeners are a major key to preventing the horrors we continue to endure,” she said.

Ms Steyn said it saddens her to see staff members being accused of helping criminals gain access to their employers’ properties.

“It is such a shame. How can we blame them when they know no better? There is no excuse for this. We need to educate them, enlighten them and make them critically aware of who could be attacking under a disguise, what techniques are being used to get them to open the gates and doors including what to do and certainly what not to do. So, please make sure your staff attend this lesson. Let us stop and eliminate crime by knowing better,” said Ms Steyn.
