House robberies on the rise in Jeppe

The Jeppe SAPS advised residents that when they hear an unexpected knock on their door, or any noises in their yards, they should contact the police.

The Jeppe SAPS is concerned about the rise in house robberies within the Jeppe policing precinct.

The SAPS is urging residents to be more vigilant.

“In recent weeks there has been an increase in the number of house robberies reported within the Jeppe policing precinct.

“In most cases, the victims claim they heard people making a noise outside their houses, or people knocking on their doors. Victims who heard people knocking on their doors opened for the intruders, not knowing that they were about to be victims of a house robbery.

“Those who heard noises just became afraid and froze. They did not make any means of scaring off the intruders,” said the Yeoville SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi.

The Jeppe SAPS advised residents that when they hear an unexpected knock on their door, or any noises in their yards, they should contact the police.

They should call the sector vans or the station client service centre numbers 011 624 6000/6060 or call 10111.

The Jeppe SAPS sector vehicle numbers are:

  •  Sector one – 071 675 6020/1.
  •  Sector two – 071 675 6022/3.
  •  Sector three – 071 675 6024/5.
  •  Sector four – 071 675 6026/7.
