LASTEST: Three critical following concrete slab collapse

The trapped patients sustained multiple compact fractures and were in critical conditions.

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) rescue team,worked diligently to rescue three contract workers who were trapped under heavy concrete slabs in Elandsfontein on Sunday afternoon.

The call was received at around 3pm. The trapped patients sustained multiple compact fractures and were in critical conditions.

Another two patients were treated on scene for minor injuries. The five workers were demolishing a structure when it collapsed trapping three of the workers under the rubble.

 

It only took less than two hours to recover all three patients from the rubble.

The injured workers were taken to Rose Acres Hospital for further medical treatment.
