Edenvale store hit by robbers

W/O Olckers said the suspects escaped in a red VW Golf.

Robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash when they robbed a business on Van Riebeeck Avenue this morning.

Spokesperson for Edenvale SAPS, Warrant officer Jean Olckers said seven suspects entered the business around 10am and took cash and goods.

He said the men were armed and a shot was fired during the robbery.

“A high speed chase ensued after a security officer who was responding to a panic button at the store arrived. Despite being shot at twice, he did not stop,” said W/O Olckers.

He said the suspects abandoned the car they were travelling in with some of the loot they had taken from the store.

W/O Olckers said the suspects escaped in a red VW Golf.

“Police are still looking for the suspects,” he said.
