“At 6:45pm two men entered a shop in Jules Street and pretended to be customers. They approached the owner and instructed him to open the counter. When he refused, they pointed a firearm at him and instructed him to lie down,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Richard Munyai.
“They searched him and opened a cash register and took money and airtime worth R3 000 and fled on foot. The community saw what was happening and gave chase. They managed to catch one suspect and called the police,” said W/O Munyai.
The suspect was detained and charged with business robbery while his accomplice is still on the run.
