UPDATE: Murder of elderly man – firearm sent for forensic testing

A firearm found in the vicinity of the incident has been sent for forensic testing.

Based on the latest information regarding the murder of an elderly man in Edenvale, the incident occurred in Thirteenth Avenue in Edenvale.

The NEWS previously reported a case of murder is being investigated after the body of an Edenvale man (84) was found at his home. The body was found during the early hours of the morning on June 23, in the Avenues. This was after a residential burglary was reported to the Edenvale SAPS at 1.30am.

“A firearm found in the vicinity of the incident, has been sent for forensic testing,” said Edenvale SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Jean Olckers.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information are urged to contact 011 553 8600.
