As the Toastmasters year comes to an end in June, Modderfontein Breakfast Club celebrated it’s last meeting of the year with the induction of the new committee and rewarding excellence with presenting awards to members.

The Gold Bunny award is a special award that is presented to a Toastmasters member from another club who has supported the club and participated in their meetings.

Mr Terry Burns, a member from Benoni Toastmasters club and incoming president at Benoni, and Area Director, was presented with this award. During his acceptance speech, Mr Burns reminded Modderfontein members of how some of the members have grown in confidence and stature at Toastmasters.

Ms Sharon Reynolds was presented with the Outstanding Toastmaster award.

The award is presented to a Toastmaster who is always willing and always puts their hand up to volunteer.

Ms Reynolds has been a Toastmaster for just over a year and has been elected to the position of vice president public relations.

Once again during the 2015/2016 year, Modderfontein achieved the highest level that a club can achieve, that of Presidents Distinguished status. In order for a club to achieve this, members need to achieve certain educational awards and goals.

The following members were awarded Competent Communicator awards: Ms Barbara Hardaker, Ms Ntombi Manaka, Mr Dylan Cooke-Tonnesen, Mr Thabo Malefane (re-award), Mr Karel Armour (re-award).

The following members achieved advanced communication awards: Mr James Dhlamini (Advanced Commincator Bronze), Mr Karel Armour (Advanced Communicator Gold). Mr Armour also achieved the Advanced Leader silver and Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest accolade that a Toastmaster can achieve.

Modderfontein Toastmasters is a club that supports and encourages it’s members to achieve their goals.

This is evidenced by the number of awards received during the year.
