Members enjoy air traffic control talk
Mr and Mrs van Zyl provided information about air traffic controllers as well as videos and voice recordings of air traffic controllers in action.
On August 1 the Edenvale Rotary Club hosted two guest speakers who spoke about air traffic control in South Africa at the club’ s Monday meeting in Edenvale.
In their discussion with Rotarians and guests, Mr Deon and his wife Mrs Alecia van Zyl, two air traffic controllers, discussed the role that various air traffic controllers play during a flight.
The pair gave a brief overview of South African airspace and used a flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town as an example for their discussion.

At the the meeting, the president of the Edenvale Rotary Club, Rotarian Garth Trumble, gave a short talk on the objectives of the Rotary group and those of the Edenvale Rotary Club.
Some of the current projects planned by the Edenvale Rotary Club include:
- Expanding the membership of the club.
- Continuing the work of Rotary.
- Creating a database of individuals or companies who can offer services, skills, funding or labour for specific projects.
- Obtaining assistance with their fundraising which will be held over the Christmas period.
- The club will be wrapping gifts at Greenstone Shopping Centre.
