The Edenvale SAPS made four arrests on the evening of Women’s Day.
According to Captain Jean Olckers, the spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, the arrests involved two separate incidents and saw one suspect being arrested for possession of drugs. Three suspects were arrested for being in possession of tools used during burglaries.
On the evening of August 9, a suspect was arrested in the Edenvale CBD for possession of drugs.
Colonel Robbie Roberts, the acting station commander for the Edenvale Police Station, said the suspect was stopped and searched after the police identified his behaviour as suspicious.
With the assistance of the Savika K9 Unit, members of the SAPS found R50 000 worth of khat.
In the second incident, which occurred later on the evening of Women’s Day, the SAPS was alerted by members of the neighbourhood watch who noticed three suspicious individuals in the Avenues.
According to Col Roberts, members of the Edenvale SAPS found that the suspects were in possession of tools that are used for burglaries and were arrested.
“Often these tools can include crowbars, saws and screwdrivers,” said Col Roberts.
He said the SAPS will investigate whether the three suspects are related to any other residential burglaries because of the equipment found in their possession.
