Man convicted for colleague’s murder

The management of Bedfordview SAPS has congratulated Warrant Officer Bigboy Nxumalo for securing a conviction on a murder case.

Spokesperson W/O Mduduzi Nhlabathi said the station was proud of the way W/O Nxumalo investigated the case.

“Murder cases usually take longer to be put to bed. This trial only took a year to complete. We say job well done to him and we are happy to call him our own,” said W/O Nhlabathi.

He said the crime took place in November 2015 at a business in Elandsfontein.

“The victim, Mr Fatule was stabbed while on duty as a security guard. Police responding to the call found him on the floor with a stab wound to the chest. On scene reports suggested that he had an argument with a colleague, Sonwabiso Qwayede. He was later arrested and stood trial,” said W/O Nhlabathi.

“The 38-year-old was sentenced by the Regional Court 1 at Germiston Magistrate’s Court, to 10 years imprisonment without an option of fine.

“He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm,” said W/O Nhlabathi.
