The Joburg SAPS East Cluster arrested 135 suspects from September 5 to 12.
The suspects were arrested for committing crimes ranging from murder and armed robbery to business robbery and rape.
The Joburg SAPS cluster is made up of seven police stations including Cleveland SAPS, Jeppe SAPS, Hillbrow SAPS, Rosebank SAPS, Parkview SAPS, Norwood SAPS and Yeoville SAPS.
Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Richard Munyai said the arrests included two suspects arrested for murder, one for attempted murder, one for rape, three suspects arrested for armed robbery, 22 for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), three for business robbery, one for theft of motor vehicle and seven for fraud.
“Four suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods. Two suspects were arrested for business breaking and theft,” said W/O Munyai.
“The suspects have appeared in different courts such as Hillbrow, Jeppe and Johannesburg courts. Some have paid their fines while others are out on bail and others remain in police custody,” said W/O Munyai.
