Jeppe SAPS arrested a suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm at George Goch hostel, Benrose on September 11.
This comes after Jeppe SAPS received a complaint from a victim that the suspect had pointed a firearm at him.
“Upon arrival the complainant told the police that a man pointed a firearm at him the previous day, on September 10. He took them to a place where the suspect was and pointed him out. The police searched the suspect and found him in possession of a firearm. The firearm had one magazine with six live rounds. The firearm was unlicensed and its serial numbers had been filed off,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Richard Munyai.
“The suspect was arrested and detained at Jeppe SAPS.
“He was charged with possession of unlicensed firearm. Police investigations are still continuing,” said W/O Munyai.
