St Andrew’s learner shines at dance festival

Katherine participated in both the ballet and contemporary categories of the festival.

Katherine Deacon, a grade 1 learner at St Andrew’s School for Girls, competed in the East Rand Dance Festival.
This was her first time dancing solos on stage.
She participated in both the ballet and contemporary categories of the festival.
Katherine entered seven sections: two ballet group dances, two ballet solos, a tap solo, a modern solo plus a song and dance solo.
For her routines, Katherine was awarded three A symbols and four A+ symbols. She placed first, twice and won the trophy for the Most Promising Song and Dance Performer, 13 years and under.
During the course of the festival, Katherine also took part in the National Eisteddfod of South Africa and received the highest award, a Junior Diploma, for her Voice Own Choice Solo Grade 1 and received A symbols for all her other categories.
