JILS hosts Christmas party for children
"It was a Christmas event to get the festive season started."
The Johannesburg Italian Ladies Society (JILS) held its annual Christmas Tree event on November 27.
The event, which was hosted by the Italian Club, was organised by the JILS committee and was held to spread some festive cheer to children.
President of the JILS, Mrs Cathy Barecchia, said the event was organised by the committee to have a festive day of fun.
Children could watch a magic show, get their faces painted and received Christmas presents from Father Christmas at the event.
Children from Grace House orphanage were invited to attend.
“It was a Christmas event to get the festive season started,” said Mrs Barecchia.
At the event, the children were pleasantly surprised when they saw Father Christmas arrive in an old fire engine.
Father Christmas handed out sweets and gifts to the eager children at the event.
Mr Marco Petacco, the Consulate General of Italy who was also invited to the event, said it was a great initiative.
