8 July – St Francis Church Morning Market from 9am to 1pm. Corner Valley Road and Queen Street, Modderfontein. Stalls include White Elephant, jewellery, bead work, garden ornaments and more. New stallholders welcome. Contact Jenny on 082 717 5195.

12 July – Separatists South Africa’s longest running social dance club meets every Wednesday night from 7.30p to 11.30pm at Jeppe Quondam Sports Club. Are you 40 plus and love to dance? This is your chance. Waltz, Cha Cha, Rock & Roll and more. Dress smart casual – no jeans or t-shirts. Contact Kim on 082 228 2083.

15 July – St Benedict’s College Pipe Band Gathering. 10 am to 4pm on Harcus Road Bedfordview. Entrance fee R30 per adult and R10 per child. Pipe band competition, highland dancing, massed band display, craft market and more.

16 July – Piston Ring Club event in Modderfontein. Spotlight will be on General Motors. Club boasts over 850 members. Show takes place on the third Sunday of every month and is open to everyone with a passion for classic automobiles. Entrance is R20 per person over 15. Under 15’s enter free of charge.
