CRIME STATS: Sebenza – 175% increase in common assault cases

Attempted murder cases also increased by 80 per cent from five cases to nine cases.

There was a 175 per cent increase in common assault cases reported in the Sebenza SAPS precinct for the period of April 2016 to March 2017 when compared to April 2015 to March 2016.

The crime stats for April 2016 to March 2017 also showed an increase of 88.2 per cent in car hijackings as well as a 40 per cent increase in truck hijacking cases.

Crime stats for rape, malicious damage to property, business and residential burglary and shoplifting decreased.
