Bill Steward Nature Reserve cleanup

Members of the 1st Bedfordview Scout Troop carried out a cleanup on the Bill Steward Nature Reserve recently.

In addition to removing large amounts of litter, the Scouts also felled several trees that are invader species and removed them from the reserve.

The project was run by 17-year-old Michael Omand as part of his Springbok Scout Award.

This is the highest award in Scouting and Michael hopes to finish early next year.

The project took the Scouts 40 hours to complete and the Scouts also learnt how to use saws and chainsaws.
