CMC raises R30 000 for hospice
"When we saw Leigh's face in the NEWS earlier this year we knew we had to do something."
The Classic Motorcycle Club recently visited Edenvale Care Centre Hospice where its members presented sister Leigh with a certificate of donation.
Throughout the year, Germiston based CMC has donated R30 000 to the care centre.

Sister Leigh’s certificate was presented to her on December 10.
Although this is CMC’s ninth year assisting the hospice, the club took action when its members read about the hospices’ dire financial situation.

Sister Leigh approached the NEWS in July pleading with the community for financial assistance.
Without assistance from the community the hospice would be shut down.

“When we saw Leigh’s face in the NEWS earlier this year we knew we had to do something,” said Marlene Hooper, secretary of the club.
Donations were raised at club meetings and at bike shows.
Besides presenting sister Leigh with the certificate, CMC treated her to a breakfast.

At the breakfast a certificate of donation was also given to the South African Guide-Dogs Association.

Chairman of CMC Rusty Thorn said it was a joy to give back to the community.
“Our biggest need is financial assistance,” said sister Leigh.
She said recent fund-raisers held by the community have assisted the centre greatly.
At a fund-raiser held on November 25 over R100 000 was raised and donated to the centre.
