Spokesperson for the station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela, said residents must avoid carrying large amounts of cash.

“Residents who will be sharing stokvel money should not carry large amounts of money. We encourage residents to transfer the money into their bank accounts,” he said.

Mabizela urged residents to inform the police of any suspicious-looking motor vehicles and activities.

“Residents who will be going away on holiday must ensure that their premises are locked. They must ask their neighbours to keep an eye on their property to avoid house burglaries and damage to properties,” he said.
