Ward 66 Councillor Carlos Da Rocha is recommitting himself to serving the community in 2018.
“Since the day I was elected my focus has been on service delivery and helping my community, and that is something that I will never stop doing,” said Da Rocha. “2017 was an extremely difficult year but I got the job done to the best of my ability. I have always been very accessible to my residents, and that will continue even in 2018.”
Da Rocha plans to continue working closely with his residents and to improve where he has not been performing.
“My fight for service delivery will continue, and I have faith in the new administration. My hope for 2018 is better law enforcement across the board from all departments. Law enforcement is the key to a successfully run city and ward.”

One of Da Rocha’s biggest wishes is to see Ward 66 clean and the by-laws being enforced.
“I would like to see my residents improve this year in keeping the space around them clean. I would like to see residents reporting water leaks and broken infrastructure to the council. Also, I would like to encourage residents to be vigilant and report people dumping by taking note of who they are and taking down registration numbers.”
He pleaded with residents who are planning on improving their homes this year to keep building materials inside their properties to keep the area looking good.

“I would also like to encourage residents to support the A Re Sebetseng cleanup campaign. The campaign is all about encouraging residents to look after their neighborhoods. It’s not only about cleaning up but about sending out a city-wide message that residents want a clean city,” said Da Rocha. “At the same time, educate other residents that feel that it’s okay to dump their rubbish on the corner that it’s wrong.”
