Edenvale SAPS is investigating a case of murder after a pastor was shot inside a church in Sector 1 in Edenvale at about 10am on Sunday.

Edenvale SAPS spokesperson Captain Jean Olckers said the head of Edenvale police detectives confirmed the pastor, who was in his 40s, had died in hospital.

“There is a lot of false information being circulated regarding this incident. We urge the community to prevent spreading false information and to remain calm,” Olckers told the NEWS on Monday, February 5.

“They were armed with handguns. The motive is unknown. The SAPS is not ruling out the possibility of a foiled robbery,” said Olckers.
“The pastor was rushed to hospital, where he died,” said Olckers.
The SAPS has not yet released the name of the church or the deceased.
