The Kensington Resident and Ratepayers Association (KRRA) is looking forward to a positive 2018.

The association plans to continue addressing the issue of bylaws enforcement, which has been a burning issue for residents.
Last year a system to document by-law infringements, service delivery complaints and reference numbers were recorded and a spreadsheet was compiled and submitted to the councillors and the City of Johannesburg.
“We have resolved to continue working hard on the by-law enforcement issue. It’s the little things that make a difference and if we can start with bylaw enforcement it will make a difference in our area. KRRA seeks to encourage good citizenship while developing a community that adheres to by-laws,” said KRRA’s chairperson, Brendon Burmester.
The association will continue with the system they have put in place to increase accountability of councillors and the CoJ and also encouraged residents to share information and log their complaints.
An emphasis was put on the Clean Village Project and the important role it plays in the community.
“We need to support the Clean Village Project because it’s benefiting our community by keeping it clean.
“Any donations towards this great project will make a difference in ensuring a clean neighborhood,” said Burmester.
Monthly meetings will be held to address hot issues facing Kensington.
“Generalising the meeting takes up time and we end up not addressing all the important issues.
“We want residents to come to meetings prepared.
“In that way, we will be able to cover different issues that are a problem in our area,” said Burmester.
The association is also considering showing an outdoor movie monthly.
“We want to bring positive things to the area and that all depends on the support of the community. So we appeal to Kensingtonians to support the association and attend the meeting because we discuss issues that affect the residents,” said Burmester.
