St Andrew’s School for Girls in Bedfordview recently shone a light on modern-day slavery by joining CNN’s #MyFreedomDay campaign.

Over 200 girls staged a silent protest against the inhumane practice of slavery.

The CNN Freedom Project works to expose exploitation of people as sex slaves, unpaid laborers, forced marriages and child labor.

“The project aims to give a voice to the voiceless and we wanted to add our voices to the call to abolish slavery,” said Nita Naidoo, a grade 11 learner at the school.
