“When we saw the article in the EXPRESS we decided that as a school, we would respond to Duduzwane’s plea,” said Madinnah Russell, the principal of Bismillah Allah Kareem Daycare in Bez Valley, in response to Duduzwane Home’s request for donations.

Russell said the centre always wants the children to learn something meaningful from everything they do and so donating to the home was a lesson about giving.

“You teach children from a young age that if they have enough, they must learn to share with those less fortunate,” said Russell.

“The children were so happy about their donations and understood what it meant to give to those less fortunate.”

Eve Thavhana from Duduzwane Home received donations on behalf of the home.

“I’m so touched by these donations. We always receive donations from business and the community but this is the first time we have received donations from children. We appreciate it because they have shown me that they understand why they are donating to the home.

“I would like to thank the school and parents who allowed the children to take from home in order to donate to us. We appreciate all the donations because it is now more than what we had yesterday,” said Thavhana.

Russell thanked the children for their contributions and also thanked parents for supporting the day of giving.
