The Cleveland SAPS arrested three suspects for possession of stolen copper on Main Reef Road in Denver on May 11.
Spokesperson for the station Captain Johan Jordaan said police officers received a phone call informing them about three men who were about to sell stolen copper at a scrap yard.
“Officials proceeded to the address. Upon arrival, they spotted the three men inside a Hyundai H100.
“There were copper cables that had been stolen from unknown areas in the back of the vehicle. The approximate value of the copper is R20 000. The suspects aged 25, 30 and 40 were arrested and taken to the Cleveland SAPS where they were detained,” said Jordaan.
The three are expected to appear in court soon while police investigations continue.
